Hey! So Glad You're Here.
Hi everyone!! My name is Mallory Murray and I am the creator and founder of Planet in Vogue! As some of you may know I absolutely love nature, but especially traveling to new places where the atmosphere is absolutely everything. But, being a fashion major it doesn't seem to correlate. The fashion industry is one of the biggest problems for the environment from high water consumption, significant greenhouse gas emissions from transportation and production, usage of harmful chemicals with the fabric production, and excessive waste from clothing disposal. On top of that the industry dries up the water sources and continues to pollute the rivers and streams, on top of that 85% of textiles go to the dumps every year.
This is the reason why I started the blog Planet in Vogue focusing on sustainability within the fashion industry. Focusing on the environmental impact like textile waste, fast fashion, and synthetic fibers for example. Then ethical labor practices like demanding fair wages, ethical sourcing materials and safe working conditions. Consumer awareness and demands to prioritize sustainability to then needing regulations and industry standards from having certifications like GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). Lastly, we need to see an innovation in materials and production like sustainable fabrics, alternative materials and eco-friendly dyes and waterless production techniques are all things I have to bring awareness to within this blog! As you continue to read my blogs each week you may learn new facts, find new brands, new creators to follow, upcycling and DIY tips, challenges, etc.
